Vinícola del Priorat is the last operational cooperative in Priorat, today’s incarnation was formed in 1991 from the last cooperatives in La Vilella Alta, La Vilella Baixa el Lloar and Gratallops.
Cooperatives formed a vital bridge between the 19th-21st centuries, post-phylloxera and post-war they allowed people to band together and survive. Under the guidance of Sandra Estevez, wine is made from 140 growers, with very low yields, old vineyards on licorella soils on slopes over 30% gradient.
