Mariona and Albert met studying winemaking in Tarragona. They launched Succés Vinícola in 2011 when they were only 20 years old.​

Their first wine La Cuca de Llum, Catalan for ‘firefly’ is made from trepat, a variety usually grown for the production of cava rosado. When the pair went to sample fruit from a vineyard one night they spotted a rare firefly, this coupled with the rarity of still wine made from trepat led them to name their first wine after the insect.​

They source old vine, organically farmed fruit from local abuelos to make their wines from trepat for reds and parellada for whites, another variety traditionally only used for cava, rarely seen as a white wine.
