Tasting: Tinta de Toro, although Tempranillo, is generally considered a DNA variant of Tempranillo, it has smaller berries and thicker skins so makes much bigger wines than Tempranillo in the Duero valley generally does. The nose of this powerful wine shows toasted wood and ripe black fruit, the palate, dense, dark and rich and brooding, blackberry, liquorice and spice.
