Bodegas Martín Códax
Katia Álvarez
Bodegas Martín Códax was founded in 1986, named after an ancient troubadour whose medieval poems and songs are the oldest preserved examples of the Galician / Portuguese language, he sang about love and his people’s affinity with the coast and the sea.
Originally a cooperative of 50 local growers, they began to acquire vineyards of their own, and crafted long-term agreements with growers, in order to ensure a supply of top quality Albariño grapes. Today they oversee 1400 individual parcels across 550 families, including expanding their operation across Spain’s northwest into Bierzo as well as sourcing Godello from Monterrei.
