Tasting: Maturana Blanca is a heritage variety in Rioja, only grown in small amounts, but making a comeback. Barrel fermentation and aging on lees has produced a powerful, full bodied white, bursting with personality. Aromas of cooked lemon, and red apple complement a rich and textural palate of custard apple, ripe yellow peach, greengage, subtle pastry and dairy notes, and a long and complex finish.
