Tasting: Bodegas Jiménez-Landi led by José-Benavides is a family winery that has been farming organically since 1963! The northern most part of Méntrida, where the Jiménez-Landi vineyards are located are part of the coveted Sierra de Gredos mountain range, which has made a very respected name for itself in the production of wines from the Garnacha variety. There aren’t enough superlatives for how delicate, pretty and vibrant this wine is! Highly perfumed on the nose, ripe red cherry, slightly reminiscent of Cherry Ripes, and delicate red berry fruit lead to a palate of thyme accented strawberry fruit, wild forest raspberries, and a delicate herb note. The texture of this wine is extraordinary, it’s so poised, so nervy you just want to hold it in your mouth forever! Truly sensational stuff.
